Redevelopment of Plaza St-Hubert
An emblematic commercial street in Montreal for more than 100 years, Plaza Saint-Hubert brings together more than 400 merchants between Bellechasse Street and Jean-Talon Street. Since 1984, it has stood out to Montrealers thanks to the canopy that covers the sidewalk for several hundred meters.
To revitalize this artery that is essential to Montréal's economic development, the City carried out a complete redevelopment consisting of the installation of a new canopy, the widening of sidewalks, the planting of trees, and the development of public squares. The goal was to create a friendly, accessible, and safe environment that promotes active transportation. The City took advantage of this project to replace underground infrastructure.
This redevelopment project required multiple obstructions and the complete closure of the street, which was a major challenge for access and the vitality of businesses.
