Design and impact management

Intervia designed and managed the impacts of several pedestrianization projects located along Mont-Royal Avenue between Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Fullum Street. In this respect, coordination between our engineers and communication experts was essential to ensure fluid traffic around this area and consider access to emergency and commercial vehicles without jeopardizing user safety and mobility. Our team of engineers drew up the traffic maintenance specifications while our communication experts took care of relations with citizens and partners in the area.

To make the pedestrian zone accessible to wheeled engine-less vehicles, while guaranteeing pedestrian safety, Intervia was involved in the "Zone lenteur" cohabitation pilot project led by the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) in collaboration with École Polytechnique.

To make this project more inclusive and facilitate traffic in this area, Intervia had to innovate by proposing aesthetic and user-friendly street infrastructure that fit into the urban landscape with clearly identifiable signage. Intervia also recommended using transport shuttles with a reduced gauge thus improving accessibility for people with reduced mobility along the entire route.
