Pedestrianization of Mount-Royal Avenue

Social acceptability: Citizen liaison, a major asset.

Despite its limited duration, this pedestrianization project was of concern for residents, shopkeepers, and users. Mont-Royal Avenue is a major commercial artery and prohibiting access to motorized vehicles can cause difficulties for the movement of residents and access to surrounding businesses. Our liaison officers were therefore mobilized in the field to carry out regular impact surveys to meet users’ needs and seek compromises with them. Such a project therefore requires innovative design and effective coordination among the various stakeholders. The benefits of the pedestrianization of this street section were quickly felt from the economic, ecological, and social standpoints and the high user satisfaction for this project is the result of the quality and diligence of our teams.
