Impact management and maintenance of traffic in a dense area

Intervia's traffic engineers and liaison officers participated in the design phase of the site by supervising and validating traffic specifications prepared by the consultant in charge and by harmonizing signage.

To ensure close coordination of obstructions at the various construction sites, comprising events taking place at the Quartier des Spectacles, our team was required to participate in the meetings of the Partners' Committee – Place des Arts hub. Significant work was done to develop and continuously adjust mitigation measures and thus minimize the project's impact on this neighbourhood that has a very wide range of cultural, residential, commercial, and institutional activities. For example, access to the indoor parking garage at Place des Arts was made possible during show evenings and access to the private parking lots located between Clark Street and Saint-Laurent Boulevard was also maintained for the duration of the work.

Maintaining Communication: The Role of Site Communications

Liaison officers, in collaboration with the traffic maintenance and impact management team, made it possible to disseminate the mitigation measures put in place, such as setting up a safe temporary drop-off area on an adjacent street to maintain access to a daycare or implementing a waiting area for trucks, which required the creation of special signage. This made it possible to adequately channel the large volume of trucks that were hindering access to businesses.
