Reconfiguration of the Bonaventure Expressway
The City of Montreal decided to replace the Bonaventure Expressway, the 1966 structure on stilts, with an urban boulevard, thus creating a living environment on a human scale and a striking facelift to this gateway to downtown Montreal. The section of the highway in question ran from the middle of the Lachine Canal to Notre-Dame Street and is located between Griffintown and Old Montreal, in a dense space with rich and diverse activities, many offices, and many residential buildings.
