Major challenges in maintenance of traffic

The maintenance of traffic project entrusted to Intervia involved many issues. It was necessary to ensure that public transit was served without interruption and that the travel times of the 1,000 or so buses using the Bonaventure axis daily were respected.

Another major challenge required the development of the site and the provision of different configurations based on the work sequence, to maintain access to and from the downtown core throughout the project.

Finally, it was important to maintain fluidity and safety for all modes of travel by ensuring optimal lane configurations and the development of safe corridors for all users.

Exemplary coordination and impact management for a successful project

In addition to continuous coordination with all project stakeholders and a strong ability to adapt in the production of deliverables, the Intervia team developed a specific layout of reversible lanes with dynamic signage to accommodate traffic during AM and PM peaks. Nearly 27,000 vehicles pass through the Bonaventure Expressway every day.

Our team also worked closely with officials responsible for major neighbouring construction projects, namely the rehabilitation of the Turcot interchange and the construction of the new Samuel de Champlain Bridge.
