Special Planning Program for the Future REM Station in Kirkland
The arrival of the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) has had a major impact on the dynamics of the territories it serves. The construction of a new REM station in a neighbourhood cannot be done without adequate redevelopment of the surrounding urban space. Mobility and user safety challenges therefore arise in maintaining fluid traffic around the site of the future REM station for all modes of transport that pass through it and guaranteeing access to the various areas in the vicinity.
The Town of Kirkland therefore sought the professional services of various firms specializing in urban planning, urban design, landscape architecture, and traffic management to develop a special urban plan (SPP) for the area where the future REM station would be located. Provencher-Roy, a firm specializing in urban planning, therefore called on Intervia to conduct the traffic studies necessary for the project to run smoothly. Our team also accompanied the Town throughout the development process envisaged for the site.
