Construction of a New Nemaska Lithium Plant in Bécancour

Nemaska Lithium Inc. planned the construction of a new production plant along Route 132 in the municipality of Bécancour. The plant was to be located on Lot 9 of the Société du parc industriel et portuaire de Bécancour (SPIPB), at the southwest corner of the intersection between Route 132 and Chemin Louis-Riel. This major project covered an area involving three distinct transportation modes: road, rail, and maritime.

To assess the environmental and social impacts of such an undertaking, the engineering firm Hatch mandated Intervia to carry out a traffic impact study encompassing all three transportation modes. These were analyzed under three different scenarios: the current situation, the construction phase, and the operational phase.
