Traffic Studies and Planning

Intervia etudes-et-planification-de-la-mobilite

Sustainable Mobility Plans

In keeping with the Sustainable Development Act of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and Transport Québec's Sustainable Mobility Policy, Intervia can support you in the preparing and implementing your sustainable mobility plan, regardless of the size of the territory involved (Metropolitan Community, Regional County Municipality, city, town, village, local municipality, borough, neighbourhood). Intervia's specialists will guide you in deploying an efficient, safe, sustainable, equitable and accessible mobility of goods and people that is both integrated into its environment and socially respectful of human health and ecosystems.

Traffic Impact Studies

Whether for residential, industrial, commercial, institutional, or mixed-use real estate projects or for projects for the redevelopment of public spaces (roadways, public squares, parks), we employ concepts and tools to improve the planning of your projects by analyzing and modeling their impacts on each mode of travel of people and goods, while taking into account the behaviour of all users.

Road Safety Studies

Safe travel is a fundamental public health issue. Improving safety based on the principles of Vision Zero involves evidence-based systemic analysis of all components of the transportation system and aims to eliminate collisions that cause fatalities and serious injuries. Intervia's planning team offers comprehensive transportation safety services to meet your needs, including data collection, diagnosis, action plans, tailored interventions, assessments, and follow-ups.

Travel Safety

Our modelling and simulation tools allow us to consider and analyze different urban redevelopment scenarios and to recommend preferred alternatives based on project objectives and desired changes. We use Synchro, SimTraffic and AutoTURN software, among others.

Travel Data Processing

Travel data, whether from mobile apps, field measuring devices, in-person counts, or OD surveys, are ever-growing, diverse, and accurate. We will analyze, cross-reference, contextualize, and make sense of this information with rigour, efficiency, and care to contribute to better project planning.

Geomatics and Mapping

Mobility planning requires an understanding of the current and future transportation needs within a study area, and a comprehension of the characteristics of the physical and social environment to promote more sustainable modes of travel. Our geomatics and mapping services make it possible to cross-reference these different data in order to spatialize them, better understand the dynamics at work, and determine how to influence them.

Modeling and Simulations

Our modeling and simulation tools allow us to consider and analyze different urban redevelopment scenarios and to recommend preferred alternatives based on project objectives and desired changes. We use Synchro, SimTraffic, AutoTURN, Aimsum and VISSIM software, among others.

Opportunity and Feasibility Studies

When rebuilding intersections, street or road sections, public squares, or privately owned sites, we can carry out opportunity or feasibility studies integrating all the physical and operational constraints of the site. Through modeling tools, these studies make it possible to grasp various configurations and geometries to find the optimal mobility solution.

On-site data collection

To ensure optimal travel planning towards sustainable, inclusive, and efficient mobility, we provide turnkey traffic surveys, including collection equipment and its installation on site, obtaining required permits, as well as collection, analysis and recommendations.

Traffic Signal Design and Optimization and Intelligent Transportation System

We have the technical expertise and the mastery of the various technological tools to improve or implement a variety of intelligent transport systems. More specifically, we offer traffic signal optimization services.

Master Plan

Whatever your long-term vision and the scope of your project, Intervia supports you in optimizing the long-term mobility of goods and people around your project.

Traffic signal warrants and control type justification

Control type selection at intersections is governed by specific standards and regulations that require in-depth knowledge of the reference documents and criteria governing this type of infrastructure. Our traffic study and planning engineers will complete this analysis and recommend solutions in accordance with relevant provincial policy.

Parking Studies

Our traffic study and planning team will conduct the necessary studies to assist you in optimizing or implementing parking spaces, whether they are located on- or off-street, to establish a safe and optimal facility for users and pedestrians.
